Good food, pleasant employee/owners. Everything is made to order so be prepared for a little wait, or call in an order if you are short on time. The Gorditas (we always called them Tortas) are excellent and one will usually fill you up. Really the only thing Victoria's is lacking is space and a dedicated wait staff. Not a place to hold a business lunch but great for a quick bite of good Mexican food.

Excellent! I got a beef fajita gordita, and hubby had carne asada gordita. Packed with meat and fillings so I of course made a mess. We were both very pleased and left full. In total for both of us to eat (had water) we spent a whopping 8 dollars. The salsa was amazing! Food came out very quickly.

Small restaurant with an ole time feel to it . Total authentic Mexican food freshly made and oh so good!! Very friendly and helpful staff with fast service. Sauces were available to add to your food which varied from mild to very hot. Many cold Mexican bottle drinks to choose from. We plan to go back often!

I needed 50 breakfast burritos for a sales account I service and they took wonderful care to have my order perfect and ready on time. My customers were very pleased with their breakfast. I have to admit I tried one too and it was delicious. Both the red and green salsas were excellent. Great spice! I will be using these guys a lot while in Lake Charles.

A warning to the timid...the shredded beef comes on slowly with a spicy initial kick that builds into a jaw-melting inferno. It's delicious, but it's on the same level as the Buffalo Wild Wings "blazin" sauce.

Simple and very traditional Mexican food. Don't look for the Americanized Mexican food here. Open for breakfast and lunch, Monday through Saturday. Operated by four sisters, their menu is small but it packs a punch. Menu is made up primarily of tacos, I usually only eat corn, although I'm sure flour tortillas are available. Other traditional Mexican items are available such as tripe and Barbacoa. Being vegetarian, it limits what we can have, but we enjoy the nopalitos and they have a good wallop of heat from dried chiles. When you ask for pico de gallo, don't expect the wimpy stuff, it will poke you as it should. The extra sauces available for adding to your tacos are made fresh regularly, and I recommend checking the sauces to determine your heat tolerance. The mild will not seem mild compared to atypical Mexican restaurants. They are open early, 6 am, for breakfast and make it a great way to start your day, fired up with flavorful, spicy tacos.

Great tacos, filled to the top. The hot sauce is pretty good with a bit of a kick to it, both green (I think its made from tomatillo, but not sure) and red sauce. They have the traditional Jarritos and Mexican Coke in bottles. There was a constant stream of people coming in while eating lunch there, even my co-workers recommended me to check them out and it did not disappoint. Do not expect things to be fancy, but expect it to be more authentic and I have heard they do have many traditional meals for those more acquainted with Mexican cuisine. I hope to try their Menudo one of these days.

This place is a clean little hole in the wall in Lake Charles that serves very good tacos for very cheap prices. There are a few Mexican women behind a lunch counter dishing up some good barbacoa, pastor, lengua etc. tacos. The breakfast tacos and burritos are also dirt cheap and delicious. Not fancy, but very good and cheap. I would recommend to anyone, especially in Lake Charles.

Fantastic real Mexican tacos at a great price. Breakfast on corn for $1.50 and housemade flour for $2.00. Love it!

The food here is very simple, traditional Mexican food. It is by no means the best ever, but it is certainly way better than places like Casa Manana or Casa Ole. The staff is friendly and the service is pretty quick. The food tastes like authentic Mexican food. It is a place I would recommend to try, but it is certainly not one I would go back to.

I always get the enchiladas any time I go into a Mexican restaurant for the first time and basically judge the place from there. Went back the second time to order something else and ordered enchiladas again. What can you say, They're Great!!!

So good. Great to see an old gas stationed repurposed for a restaurant in downtown Lake Charles. The food is fresh and fast. So many Mexican restaurants are Texmex, but this one is authentic. I've eaten here four or five times and everything I've had was great. Take out is a good option too.

Very good. Been here a few times for breakfast so I can't speak as to how the rest of it is. It's authentic Mexican, that's all there is to it.

Best Mexican breakfast tacos in town! They are delicious, taste like my grandma's cooking. Their lunch plates aren't as good as their breakfast so get there early! Their service is fast!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
